  • You want team chat, files and video calls in the same tool.
  • You want an AI connector that can read and act with approval.
  • You want no usage-based fees: Harvest bills extra invoices, projects, clients and tasks on paid plans.

Stay on Harvest if

Harvest already runs your billing

Monitoring stance

Monitoring: Harvest does none, TrustHours does it openly

Harvest states plainly what it does not capture. That is a feature for some teams and a gap for others.

Features

Features that decide the choice

Six areas where the two tools differ in ways that change your day.

Invoicing and expenses

Harvest turns tracked time into invoices and tracks expenses, with payment through Stripe, QuickBooks Online, Xero and Deel. For an agency billing clients, this is its core.

TrustHours has no built-in client invoicing, so agencies keep their accounting tool for invoices.

  • Clean reporting.
  • Mac and mobile apps.

What Harvest users criticise

  • Pricing changes and usage-based charges reported by competitors and some users (unverified).
  • No monitoring or screenshots, if you need proof of work.
  • Limited payroll and team features.
Switching

How to switch from Harvest to TrustHours

Many agencies keep Harvest for invoicing and add TrustHours for remote staff. If you switch fully, plan your invoicing first.

  1. Export from Harvest first. Export time entries and reports, and keep your invoice history, since TrustHours does not invoice. Confirm what your accountant needs.
  2. Start a TrustHours trial. 14 days, no card. Create your workspace and invite the team. TrustHours cannot import time entries from other trackers today, so past hours stay in your export.
  3. Tell your team before you install. Send the message below and link what TrustHours sees. People accept tracking they were told about.
  4. Install the Windows app and set the rules. Choose the screenshot interval, blur and skipped apps, then add pay rates. macOS is coming; founding teams get early access.
  5. Run one pay period in TrustHours. Compare hours with your Harvest export for a week if you want a safety net.
  6. Cancel Harvest. Check your plan term and cancel before renewal. Teams of 10 or more paying yearly may be on invoice terms, so ask Harvest in writing.

Harvest stays useful for invoicing. Moving staff tracking to TrustHours does not stop you from keeping Harvest for client invoices.

Message to send your team before you switch

Subject: We are moving to TrustHours for time tracking

Hi team,

From [date] we are moving from Harvest to TrustHours. Here is what that means for you.

- You will be asked for permission before tracking starts.
- It captures your tracked time, a screenshot at a random moment in each interval, which apps were active, and keyboard and mouse activity counts. It never records what you type.
- Nothing is captured while you are paused, on a break, or the app is closed. You can pause from the tray icon at any time.
- You can see your own hours, screenshots and activity in your app.

How we compared

Method, disclosure and corrections

Who wrote this. TrustHours made this page, so we have an interest in you choosing us. We tried to make it useful even if you stay on Harvest, which is why it says where Harvest is the better fit.

How we checked. Every Harvest statement comes from a Harvest page, its help centre, or its listings on review sites, opened on 27 October 2026 (see Sources). When a figure comes from a pricing guide or a listing because the vendor page loads prices with JavaScript, we say so. Vendor claims are shown as claims. We did not verify Harvest's security certifications or MCP support on a primary page and say so where relevant.

What we did not do. We did not run a hands-on accuracy test, and we do not repeat unverified opinions from forums. Where we could not confirm something, we left it out or marked it as not stated.

Corrections. Prices and features change. If you find something out of date, tell us and we will fix it and update the date. Last full check: 27 October 2026.

Questions

TrustHours vs Harvest: questions people ask

What is the best Harvest alternative?

For monitoring, payroll and chat for a remote team, TrustHours. For a free tracker, Clockify or Jibble. For invoicing from time with more free users, Clockify. For analytics, ActivTrak. Each has a comparison page here.

How much does Harvest cost?

Teams is $11 per seat per month billed monthly or $9 billed yearly, Enterprise is $17.50 or $14, and Enterprise Plus is custom. A free plan covers 1 seat and 2 projects. Harvest also bills extra invoices, projects, clients and tasks by usage.

Is TrustHours cheaper than Harvest?

Yes on seat price. TrustHours Team is $8 monthly or $6.67 yearly against Harvest Teams at $11 or $9, with no usage-based extras. But Harvest includes invoicing and expenses, which TrustHours does not.

Does Harvest take screenshots?

No. Harvest says it does not take screenshots or video recordings, does not monitor chats, and does not track websites, apps or GPS. TrustHours takes screenshots at a random moment in each interval, openly.

Does Harvest have a free plan?

Yes. It covers 1 seat and 2 projects with time tracking, invoicing, expenses and Mac and iOS apps. TrustHours Free covers up to 3 users with screenshots every 10 minutes.

Does Harvest do invoicing?

Yes. Harvest invoices from tracked time and connects to Stripe, QuickBooks Online, Xero and Deel. TrustHours has no built-in invoicing, so agencies keep their accounting tool.

Does Harvest run payroll?

Payroll is not stated as a Harvest feature; it connects to Deel. TrustHours runs payroll in 40 currencies with salary history on Team.

Did Harvest raise its prices in 2026?

Competitors and trackers report a restructure to a base seat fee plus usage charges, and one tracker claims a rise in July 2026. Harvest does not call it an increase on its own page, so treat this as unverified and check your invoice.

Does Harvest have an AI or MCP connector?

We found none on Harvest's pages. TrustHours has an MCP connector for Claude and ChatGPT that reads and acts with your approval, only for the permissions you grant.

Does Harvest work on Mac and mobile?

Yes. Harvest has Mac and Windows desktop apps and iOS and Android apps. TrustHours is Windows today with macOS coming and no mobile app.

Can I use Harvest and TrustHours together?

Yes, and many agencies will. Keep Harvest for client invoicing, and use TrustHours to track, verify and pay remote staff. Hours would need to be reconciled between the two, since TrustHours has no Harvest integration.

Can I import Harvest data into TrustHours?

Not today. Export your time entries and reports from Harvest and keep them for your records. Start fresh in TrustHours at the start of a pay period.

Is TrustHours as secure as Harvest?

We did not verify Harvest's security certifications on a primary page. TrustHours has a selectable data region and publishes what it captures, but does not claim SOC 2 yet. Ask both vendors for their security documents.

Is it legal to monitor remote staff with TrustHours?

The software is lawful in most places, but notice rules vary. New York, Connecticut and Delaware require written notice, and UK guidance expects openness. If you use Harvest only, there is no monitoring to notify. This is general information, not legal advice.
